Now, fresh reports claim Brendan Rodgers’ side are set to table a  £20m move for the Celtic man.

Update on Rangers target

Reported Rangers target Sekou Gassama has a 50 per cent chance of leaving Real Valladolid this summer, according to Transfer20.

Tuttomercatoweb had tipped Rangers to sign the striker, with Steven Gerrard’s side launching an alleged £2.7m bid.

And according to fresh reports, the player’s agent claims a transfer is 50-50 possibility as several foreign clubs have taken an interest.

Dundee United move collapses

Pavol Safranko’s loan return to Dundee United has collapsed, according to the Daily Record.

The Premiership side had made an approach to re-sign the Slovakian international from Sespi.

However, the Romanian club reportedly demanded a six-figure loan fee.

Safranko, speaking on his Instagram account, said: “It looks like clubs cannot find agreement.”

The striker’s contract contains a £670k release clause which United are unwilling to meet.

Celtic linked with Charlton’s Luton Town target

Celtic continue to be linked with a move for Charlton Atheltic man Alfie Doughty.

The Hoops have reportedly asked the League One club to name their price after the Addicks turned down a £750k bid from Luton Town.

Aaron Hickey transfer saga latest

Aaron Hickey will join Serie A side Bologna on an initial loan deal.

However, the Italian club have an obligation to buy next summer for £1.78m.

Bologna sporting director Walter Sabatini spoke about the deal to the Sunday Post.

"I am pleased to announce that Aaron Hickey will be a Bologna player.

“Hearts have accepted our offer (one year loan with obligation to buy set at 2m euros) and the player is very happy to wear the Bologna shirt next season.

“It was not an easy negotiation. There were other very important teams following Hickey and who wanted to buy him, but in the end the player realised that coming to us would be the best choice for him.

“In recent weeks, he had already been to Bologna and having visited our sports centre realised how important our project was.

“We are very pleased to have closed this deal positively. Hickey is a very-talented guy, with a great future.”

Celtic to net sell-on profit from Hearts transfer

Celtic inserted a sell-on clause when they sold the teenager to Hearts.

The clause reportedly states the Hoops will receive 30% of any future transfer.

A £1.78m transfer fee for Hickey would mean the Hoops should receive roughly £535k from the deal.

This is what Posh chairman Darragh McAnthony said about Celtic's pursuit of Ivan Toney

"They came in with their fee, half of what Brentford paid, their pitch was ‘listen, we’ll just wait to January, and in January we will pre-sign him and you won’t get a pound note.

"When you try and negotiate with me like that, all you do is f****** wind me up. I wasn’t born yesterday, I’ve been around the business a long time, that’s probably over £60m worth of transfers I’ve done since I bought Peterborough United.

"For a lower league club, that’s unbelievable business, I know what the market is, I know it’s not a fast moving market, not a massive amount in fees.

"But I also know the premium for a player like Ivan Toney should go for, trust me when I say, Brentford will either get promoted or sell him for £25-35m.

“We’ll end up with another £3-4m, down the line, you can take that to the bank. That’s a guarantee in my opinion.”
