'Celtic should forfeit', 'We've got a semi in a few weeks', 'Not worth the risk' - Hibs fans react to Celtic's COVID chaos

Hibs fans have almost unanimously urged the club and football authorities to cancel tonight’s match with Celtic, after Christopher Jullien’s positive coronavirus test result.

The Glasgow side say they will still host tonight's televised league match, despite the COVID news and 13 players, plus manager Neil Lennon, assistant John Kennedy and one other staff member told to isolate.

However the news has not gone down well with the Hibees’ support who made a point on our social media pages over the safety of Jack Ross’ staff and players – and they want the points too.

George Neilson: “If it was a smaller club the game would be off and Hibs awarded the points.”

Robert Baker: “Get smart SPFL...cancel the match...its shouldn't be Celtic's choice...putting Hibs at risk!”

Brendan Rogan: “Joke. Refuse to play them due to health and safety concerns. It’s not worth the risk.”

Craig Williamson: “Celtic should forfeit the match. We don't want covid spread into the Hibs camp.”

David Nelson: “The game should be cancelled and points awarded to Hibernian.”

Kenny Mitchell: “Mon now Nicola get the boot stuck right into Celtic and cancel this game then SPFL award the points to Hibs it's a no brainer.”

William Henderson: “Hibs should refuse to play them.”

Eddie Davis: “Your average joe has to isolate for 14 days so should the Celtic team. Putting the Hibs at risk if not.”

Peter Moyes: “We’ve got a semi in a few weeks cancel the game.”

@SilverWeb17: “What is honestly going to happen if a number of HFC staff come down with this virus? We can sue Celtic? We could also not play the game to protect our staff.”

Of course in true football fans style, some saw the light-side of a serious situation with some self-deprecating humour.

@StevieBroon78: “In what would be peak Hibs, Celtic will field a reserve side and wallop Hibs 4-0.”

Robbie Gullan: “Hope they don’t put a reserve team out tonight, we ain’t playing great.”

Paul Slater: “Stands at 13 players and three staff that need to self isolate. These numbers will probably go up. What new way can Hibs find to screw this up tonight?”

Hibs’ trip to Celtic Park is live on Sky Sports tonight, kick off 7.45pm.
