Dundee United 'about to land' former Hibs player as he exits league rivals for Tannadice
The former Hibs player is set for Dundee United this transfer window, it’s claimed.
A former Hibs player is set to sign with a Premiership rival as he leaves another at the end of his contract.
Falkirk pushed the Hibees close for fifth spot during the post-split shake up in the 25/26 season but David Gray's side eventually finished on that spot. Key to Falkirk's impressive season back in the top flight was Dylan Tait, who left Easter Road for the Bairns while they were still a League One club in 2024, helping them win back to back titles.
He's now shone at top flight level, realising the potential Hibs spotted in him when signing the midfielder from Raith Rovers in 2021, attracting EFL suitors in Barnsley and Plymouth. Jim Goodwin's Dundee United, however, are his likely destination with multiple reports suggesting a deal is all but done. Falkirk have already confirmed Tait is leaving them once his deal is up in the summer.
Who is Dylan Tait signing for this summer transfer window?
Reporting in the Daily Record states: “Dylan Tait is quitting Falkirk for Dundee United. The Tannadice club is about to land the midfielder from their Premiership rivals. The 24-year-old will sign a three year deal at United. Tait is out-of-contract next month and had offers from the Bairns, Barnsley and Plymouth. He has decided to remain in Scotland but make the move to Tayside. United tabled the offer several weeks ago but were made to sweat before they got his signature.”
A statement from Falkirk on the former Hibs player reads: “Falkirk Football Club can confirm that Dylan Tait will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract. The club has been in discussion with Dylan and his agent for a number of months, however the midfielder has chosen to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
“Dylan first joined Falkirk on loan from Hibernian in January 2023 and quickly became an important part of John McGlynn’s squad as the club went on to secure the Scottish League One title as Invincibles. He returned on a permanent basis the following summer and continued to play a key role as The Bairns won the Scottish Championship, sealing back-to-back titles and a return to the top flight.
What did Dylan Tait achieve at Falkirk?
“This season, Dylan again made a valuable contribution as Falkirk competed in the Scottish Premiership and secured a top-six finish, underlining the remarkable progress made by the club during his time at The Falkirk Stadium. Across his spell with The Bairns, Dylan made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and contributing to one of the most successful periods in Falkirk’s recent history.
“Dylan has created and shared in moments that will live long in the memory of everyone connected with the club, and he will always be remembered as part of a special Falkirk side. He leaves with the club’s sincere thanks and best wishes.”
