Fraser Murray has emerged as a target for Scottish Championship side Dunfermline Athletic, who are keen to sign the Hibs midfielder on loan.

The 21-year-old was linked with a similar move to Dundee in January after admitting in December last year that he was considering a loan move to get a run of first-team action.

That arrangement fell through and now the Pars are in pole position for Murray’s services, with Hibs keen for the academy graduate to get more game time.

The Evening News understands Hibs are happy for the player to join the East End Park side on loan until January, where he would play under former Easter Road striker Stevie Crawford and be part of a team with ex-Hibs team-mate Steven Whittaker.

The Championship season doesn’t get under way until Saturday October 17, with Dunfermline hosting Inverness Caledonian Thistle on the opening day.

They then travel to Alloa on October 24 before hosting Queen of the South on October 31.

The Pars then travel to Somerset Park to face Ayr United on November 7 before hosting Hearts on November 21.

Murray has scored four goas in 29 games for Hibs in all competitions, and has been deployed primarily on the left or in central midfield, although he is capable of playing further forward as well.

He has three caps for Scotland Under-19s and has been an unused sub for the Capital club in all three league matches so far this term.
