Hibs have confirmed that Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty has joined the Easter Road club on loan until the end of the season, with striker Florian Kamberi moving to Ibrox on a similar basis.

Scotland Under-21 cap Docherty revealed he turned down the chance to return to England - the former Hamilton player spent last season on loan with Shrewsbury Town where he scored seven goals and was named their player of the year - to join Jack Ross’ squad.

The 23-year-old had found it difficult to hold down a first team place on his return to Glasgow making just five appearances, the last of which was a Betfred Cup match against East Fife in mid-August.

He said: “I’m pleased to have got this loan move over the line and I’m really hungry to get going.

“I had the chance to go back to England and I appreciate the clubs who made an effort to get me, but I feel like I know Hibernian and it was an opportunity I was really keen to take as soon as I heard about their interest."

Docherty added on the Hibs website: “I’ve not played as often as I would have liked in the last few months but I’ve been pushing myself to be as fit as I can be and I’ll be ready as soon as the gaffer tells me he needs me.”
