Hibs Under-18s recorded a 3-0 derby win against rivals Hearts at the Oriam yesterday.

The wee Hibees recorded a 4-0 opening day win against Dundee United at the Hibernian Training Centre and were keen to build on that impressive showing at Riccarton.

There was one change to the starting line-up as Ethan Laidlaw dropped to the bench to make way for the returning Jacob Blaney.

Both teams had their chances in a fairly even opening period with Robbie Hamilton and Jayden Fairley having the best chances for the visitors.

Hibs took the lead after 30 minutes in a goal broadly similar to the opener against the Terrors; defender Mack Weir heading home from a Fairley free kick.

Murray Johnson then had to be alert to deny Hearts an equaliser before Blaney hit the post.

Hibs struck the woodwork again after the restart as Connor Young smacked a free kick off the bar, but Josh O’Connor made it 2-0 with around 60 minutes gone.

The hosts upped the tempo in a bid to get back into the game but found the Hibs defence in fine form and when they did breach the backline, Johnson was on hand to keep them out.

With the game in added time, Young made the points safe as he netted his third goal in two games to secure a 3-0 win for Hibs ahead of the match with Celtic on April 20.

Hibs: Murray Johnson, Josh McCulloch, Oscar MacIntyre, Mack Weir, Jayden Fairley, Murray Aiken, Robbie Hamilton, Josh Currie, Connor Young, Josh O'Connor. Subs: Innes Lawson, Jack Furness, Freddie Wylie, Ethan Laidlaw, Gregor Fordyce, Trialist.
