The wee Hibees were looking to build on their 3-2 win against Aberdeen at the Hibernian Training Centre three days earlier and did so in some style.

Connor Young took his personal tally for the season to nine with another brace, and has now provided half of the team’s 18 goals so far.

Josh Currie was also on target again after his strike against the Dons while there were first goals for substitute Innes Lawson who came on for Ethan Laidlaw, and Jayden Fairley as Hibs triumphed in an eight-goal game.

Gareth Evans and Eddie May have now led their team to four wins and two draws from six games but they now face a testing two matches against St Mirren, who are third, and second-placed Rangers who are a point behind Hibs going into today’s fixture against Aberdeen at the Rangers Training Centre.

Hibs now travel to Ralston tonight to take on a St Mirren side who have recorded wins against Dundee United, Hearts, Hamilton, and Aberdeen before hosting Rangers on May 7.

There is no game scheduled for Hibs in the final round of fixtures on May 11 owing to there being nine teams in the division, with the league splitting after one round of fixtures with the top five and bottom four playing each other again.
