Martin Boyle's return from injury was a shot in the arm for Hibs last season

Martin Boyle has spoken on his Hibs future as the Australia internationalist enters the final 12 months of his Easter Road contract.

The 27-year-old was linked with Huddersfield Town and Stoke City earlier this summer, with Potters boss Michael O’Neill said to be weighing up a £1 million bid, and Celtic were credited with an interest in January.

Boyle helped turn the Capital club’s season around last term after battling back from two serious knee injuries and believes Hibs should be aiming for a Europa League berth this season.

The winger said: “I just want to give everything for the club at the moment. I’m into my last year [of my contract], I’ve loved every minute here and nothing will change, I’ll still go out and give everything for the club.”

Asked if remaining at Hibs was an option, Boyle told Sky Sports: “It’s ongoing at the moment, I’m not completely sure. I’m just trying to put it to the back of my mind and let everyone else sort that.

"I just want to get on with my football, I’ve been doing it every season and hopefully I can keep putting performances in for the club."

In an interview with the Evening News last month, the attacker spoke of the possiblity of following in the footsteps of former Easter Road colleague John McGinn, who has impressed in his maiden season in the English Premier League with Aston Villa.

Boyle said: "I’ve seen players at Hibs flourish over the years and didn’t see why that couldn’t be me.

"Boys move on to bigger and better things, the likes of John McGinn, and it just shows you what can be done if you keep your head down and continue to work hard.

“The facilities at Hibs mean there’s no excuse or reason. We’ve had good coaches and all the backroom staff at Hibs, so we have everything there for us to move on to an even bigger stage.

"But, if not, Hibs is a massive club. I’ve been there for five years and I’ve enjoyed every single minute of it.”
