Edinburgh hill named third best place to spend Bonfire Night in the UK
Blackford Hill proves popular online for the best spots to take in Bonfire Night
Edinburgh's Blackford Hill has been named among the UK's most popular viewpoints for Bonfire Night.
With November 5 just around the corner, a new survey has revealed the best spots in the UK to enjoy displays, all in the comfort of your own space while enjoying uninterrupted views.
Google searches for “local fireworks” have surged 150 per cent in the past month alone. But while displays can be expensive and at times crowded, another way of seeing them is becoming more popular, and for many it’s more convenient.

According to the research, conducted by car rental experts SIXT, Blackford Hill is Edinburgh’s most popular viewpoint for Bonfire Night, with its most-viewed video garnering almost 8,000 views.
Blackford Hill is one of the seven hills of Edinburgh and one of the city's most recognisable landmarks. The 105m tall hill allows visitors to have a 360-degree panoramic view of south of the city, including views of Edinburgh Castle and the historic Old Town.
Because of this, you’ll have great views of the castle's fireworks displays, as well as a general vantage point for various other local celebrations.
The Edinburgh beauty spot was third in the nationwide list, behind Queen’s Park in Glasgow in first and Parliament Hill in London second.

Anna Golding, head of marketing and PR at SIXT, shared her thoughts on how to make Bonfire Night from a viewpoint your new tradition.
She said: “Bonfire Night is a true British highlight, and we’re one of the only countries to go all out. Whereas traditional displays still very much have their place, there is a trend emerging in seeking out scenic viewpoints to enjoy your city's fireworks.
“Getting in the car and heading out of the city while everyone else heads in for displays creates a unique magic, turning Bonfire Night into a personal and cosy experience. Wrap up, take your favourite snacks and a flask of hot chocolate and delight in 360 views of Bonfire Night, entirely free.”
SIXT used Google and TikTok to identify the most cited viewpoints for fireworks across six major UK cities. They weighted them in a ranking, where three metrics were worth 20 per cent each.
