More than 30 'affordable' homes delivered in south Gilmerton as single mum praises new property
Home Group Scotland’s newest development includes 20 three-bedroom properties and 16 two-bedroom homes for social and mid-market rent
More than 30 homes have been delivered in south Gilmerton as part of a new housing development by Home Group Scotland.
The company have completed work on 36 new homes at Farrier Fields, including 20 three-bedroom properties and 16 two-bedroom homes for social and mid-market rent.
Families have already started moving in, including 35-year-old single mum Hayley, who added her name to the housing list almost five years ago when she found out she was pregnant with her son.

Brody, now four, has spent his life living with Hayley in his grandmother’s two-bed flat and sharing a single bed with his mum.
Now the family are settling into their new two-bedroom home after Hayley picked up the keys in August. Brody now has his own bedroom and has decorated the walls with his favourite superhero, Spiderman.
Hayley said: "As soon as the first night we stayed here, I was just like, 'Oh, this is it.' It's just having our own space and having me and him time, whereas my mum's house was always busy. We had no time to ourselves.
"I'm 35 and I just now feel like I'm more of an adult, just having this. I feel like this is probably my forever home."

The completion of the project, which was delivered in collaboration with Taylor Wimpey, came after Home Group Scotland increased the number of home to be delivered from 28 to 36.
Bryony Willett, director of Home Group Scotland, said: "The most important thing about completing a development like Farrier Fields is seeing people move into homes that meet their needs. Hayley and Brody had been waiting almost five years, and there are many more families in Edinburgh in the same position.
"We know there is significant demand for affordable family-sized homes, and at Farrier Fields we've been able to provide 36 more, including eight additional homes for social rent beyond those originally planned."
Home Group Scotland’s partnership with Taylor Wimpey has also seen the delivery of affordable homes across Scotland, with upcoming projects including a development at Calderwood in West Lothian.
