The 29 year-old signed for Jack Ross in January and has been a consistent performer on the right side of the Leith defence.

High-regarded by Hibs gaffer Ross, who previously worked with him at Dumbarton and signed him for St Mirren, he has played every minute of every Premiership game this term and, lauded for his his work ethic, consistent performance levels and defensive versatility, he is an integral part of the club’s plans for the next couple of seasons at least.

“He’s a manager’s dream and has been since I worked with him all those years ago at Dumbarton. A good team-mate, first and foremost, he gives you everything he has on a weekly basis,” Ross said.

“I’m pleased he has agreed to extend his contract here at Easter Road. It was a pretty short conversation for all parties.

“Paul had played a big part in our strong start to the season and he’s the first to say how much he enjoys it here. It has all come later in his career and maybe that means he appreciates it all the more.”
