'Popular' candidate emerges for Hearts & Hibs rival job, ex-Rangers star 'will' be unleashed vs Celtic in UCL

Hearts and Hibs had a mixed bag of results at the weekend as the Scottish Premiership continues to churn out its surprises. The Hibees earned their first win of the season against St Johnstone to put them in eighth in the table on five points. Meanwhile, the Jambos’ disappointing run continues.
Hearts are yet to bank their first three points after they were dealt a fourth consecutive defeat. They remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just one point on the board from their 0-0 draw with Rangers.

‘Popular’ candidate emerges for St Johnstone job
St Johnstone have parted ways with Craig Levein five games into the season as the club sit tenth in the table with three points on the board after one win and four defeats.
Speculation is swirling around who will replace the 59-year-old and The Courier has outlined former manager Tommy Wright as the ‘most popular’ candidate. After serving as assistant manager of the Saints, Wright was promoted in 2013 and he served the club for seven years until his resignation in 2020.
The former Northern Ireland international has emerged as the favourite to retake hold of the reins at St Johnstone and it is ‘hard to imagine him not being willing to have a conversation’ with the club over a return.

Celtic will face off against Slovan Bratislava this evening in the Champions League and manager Vladimír Weiss will unleash a former Rangers player for their trip to Parkhead. The boss’ son, Vladimír Weiss Jr, is the captain of his side and spent a loan spell with Rangers back in 2010.
Weiss Jr was a regular part of the Rangers set up before his foot injury and his efforts helped them lift the Scottish Premiership title, beating Celtic to the trophy by just one point. The Slovakian winger has since returned to home soil with Slovan Bratislava and Weiss Sr has confirmed that his son is still a follower of the Light Blues and that he will play against Celtic in their European clash.
“All our lives we’ve been talking about Celtic and Rangers. My son played for Rangers, he’s still a fan of the club and will face Celtic. When he was here at Rangers, they won two trophies, so he has the best memories. And the derby with Celtic is the best there is, it’s the top.”
