Capital teenager Mark Watt has secured a place in the Scotland cricket squad for next month's ICC World Twenty20 event in India.

The 19-year-old Heriot’s spinner took five wickets against the Netherlands in a friendly win on Friday in Dubai and the haul could not have come at a better time.

Scotland head coach Grant Bradburn has named him in the 15-man squad for the big tournament.

“We have an excellent mix of youth and experience across the squad, with every player offering dynamic specific skills in this format.

“We have five warm-up fixtures in India to adapt to conditions and to complete our team preparation to unleash our very best skills, at this global tournament.”
