When Europe's elite came to play Hibs at Easter Road

Skim through a list of Hibs’ continental opposition between the 1960s and 1980s and it reads like a who’s who of European football.

Barcelona, Juventus, Porto, Liverpool, Schalke, Feyenoord, and Hajduk Split all visited Easter Road for UEFA Cup, Fairs Cup, Cup Winners’ Cup, or friendly action.

While precious few photos survive of many of these encounters, the Evening News photographers were on hand to capture snapshots of these illustrious jousts with Europe’s elite.
