Speedway: Double injury fears for side

Theo PIJPER and Micky Dyer are likely to miss Monarchs’ home and away fixtures against Plymouth Devils this week after sustaining injuries against the Tigers.

Pijper has a suspected broken wrist which he picked up in the last race.

The Dutchman hit a
pot-hole on the third bend and performed all sorts of contortions to hold on to his bike but fell off sideways before reaching the pits entrance after the chequered flag had come down.

Monarchs co-promoter John Campbell said: “The paramedic told me Theo had definitely broken his wrist, but Theo had a plate in that wrist to start with and it might have moved and that’s what the medical staff may have felt, so we must just wait and see.”

Dyer rode with a broken foot which he sustained against Berwick Bandits ten days ago, and aggravated it when he pulled his bike off the track after tumbling off on the fourth bend in heat 9.

Campbell said:“I have asked him to consider carefully about what he is doing, it’s not just about this week or next week, it’s about
getting as old as I am and having the ability still to walk.”
