Squash: Alan Clyne sinks top seeds on way to Sports Club title
Scottish Squash number one Alan Clyne won last night's Edinburgh Sports Club Open final to become the first home winner since John White in 2004.
The Edinburgh-based player stunned top seed and defending champion Daryl Selby in an epic five-game semi-final on Saturday night, but Clyne recovered in time to meet second seed Tom Richards in yesterday’s final.
The Guildford pro was also taken the distance in the semis by Scot Greg Lobban, and paid a heavy price for that, retiring injured after Clyne had taken the first two games 11-4, 11-5.
English top seed Millie Tomlinson beat German Sina Wall in the ladies final.
