Edinburgh may not be the place which first springs to mind when you think of music, but some of the country’s finest musicians hail from the city – and some of the biggest hits.

9. Aberfeldy
Aberfeldy were formed by the singer-songwriter Riley Briggs in Edinburgh in 2002. The band is named after the Scottish town where Riley's granddad had a caravan. The indie-pop act released three albums between 2004 and 2010, with their biggest hit UK single Love Is an Arrow released in 2005. 10. Saint Jude's Infirmary
Saint Jude's Infirmary are a Scottish indie band originally from Fife but now based in Edinburgh. Fans of the band include Ian Rankin and Jack Vettriano both of whom appear on the band's second, and last album 'This Has Been the Death of Us' released on 19 October 2009, on the 7th Realm of Teenage Heaven label.
