The 11 Edinburgh and Lothians 'unmissable experiences' in Lonely Planet's ultimate UK Travelist

The Fringe topped the Lonely Planet Ultimate United Kingdom Travelist.
Lonely Planet’s Ultimate United Kingdom Travelist, published on Tuesday, ranks the 500 “most memorable, beautiful, surprising and compelling experiences” to be found across the UK.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has been named the UK’s top “unmissable experience” in the guide - but it's just one of several across Edinburgh and the Lothians which has made the list.
Arthur's Seat, an ancient volcano which sits 251m above sea level, gives spectacular views of Edinburgh. It was ranked 19th on the list.
Wheelchair bound Sally Hyder with her helping dog Harmony on board the Royal Yacht Britannia, which ranks 270th.
The Lonely Planet publication also highlights a "walk with the 'living dead'" at Greyfriars Kirkyard, ranked 334th.
At number one, the Fringe is described in the guide as "the greatest show of arts and culture on Earth."
"Seeking out angels and demons at Rosslyn" is how popular visitor attraction - ranked 377th - is described in the Travelist.
