Lonely Planet’s Ultimate United Kingdom Travelist, published on Tuesday, ranks the 500 “most memorable, beautiful, surprising and compelling experiences” to be found across the UK.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has been named the UK’s top “unmissable experience” in the guide - but it's just one of several across Edinburgh and the Lothians which has made the list.
