When is Best Friends Day 2021?

Best Friends Day is observed each year on 8 June. It’s unclear how the day first started happening in the UK, but according to National Today, the day actually has American origins that trace back to the 1930s.

In 1935, the US Congress reportedly gathered to devote a day each year in tribute to friends and friendship, choosing 8 June because it has a higher chance of good weather.

Since then, it appears that the day has grown in popularity, with countries across the globe getting involved in the special day of friendship.

There’s another friendship orientated day coming up next month as well - International Day of Friendship, on 30 July.

In 2011, the United Nations declared 30 July International Day of Friendship, with the intention of inspiring peace and building bridges between communities.

How can I celebrate Best Friends Day 2021?

Of course the obvious answer here is to spend the day with your friends, doing whatever it is that you and your crew like to do together.

You could always watch some films about friendship - the perk to this activity is that you don’t have to be in the same room as your friends to do this if you can’t get together in person.
