Wind cancels Edinburgh Foodies Festival

The final day of Edinburgh's biggest food festival has been cancelled due to high winds.

Bosses at Foodies Festival - the largest of its kind in the UK - were forced to shut the event this morning amid safety fears.

Traders and customers said they were disappointed at the move, but understood why the decision had been taken.

A supervisor on site said the weather was “monitored through the night” but had to be assessed “on the day”.

A tweet from the organisers read: “We are very sorry to announce that Foodies Festival Edinburgh will not be open today due to high winds and concerns for public safety.”
