The award is decided by a panel of 21 reviewers who cross-check every improv show across the entire Fringe program before coming together as a team to vote. TBC Improv clinched the top spot for 2026, beating out major international heavyweights—including US favourite Baby Wants Candy, as well as top London acts like Showstopper!

Now in its 16th year, the long-running show has proved to be a perennial Fringe staple. Over the years, TBC Improv has earned a string of four- and five-star reviews alongside multiple sold-out runs. This year’s award-winning cast featured a mix of Edinburgh locals alongside guest performers from the company’s different hubs. Founded right here in Edinburgh in 2009, TBC Improv has expanded globally, now running active locations in both Hong Kong and Barcelona.

For comedy fans who missed out during the festival, the team has already confirmed plans to return for Fringe 2027.

Outside of the festival season, TBC Improv operates year-round from their home studio at Summerhall. The company offers regular public shows, beginner to advanced improv classes, drop-in workshops, and corporate team-building and training.
