West Lothian student recognised at Scottish Parliament
The golfing success of a student from Bathgate has been recognised in the Scottish Parliament.

Josh Beveridge, a third-year BA (Hons) Professional Golf student at University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) North, West and Hebrides, was congratulated in a parliamentary motion lodged by Central Scotland and Lothians West MSP Jenny Young after winning the BUCS University Golf Tour Autumn Trophy.
The motion recognises Josh’s achievement in the university golf competition and his dedication and skill in achieving the result.
Earlier this year, he'd said it was a meaningful win: “ I knew I was capable of it, but I honestly didn’t expect it. I’m really pleased. My ambition now is to go pro, and my time at UHI has been absolutely vital in turning that into a realistic goal.”
Josh’s achievement was one of four UHI North, West and Hebrides-related matters recognised in Scottish Parliament motions lodged between September and October.
The other motions recognised the contribution of UHI North, West and Hebrides to the development of Cnoc Soilleir, the Gaelic cultural, educational and community centre in South Uist, as well as research at the university’s Environmental Research Institute (ERI) in Thurso, including the FutureMoss project and award-winning research into lead ammunition.
Lydia Rohmer, Principal and Chief Executive at UHI North, West and Hebrides, said: “This recognition reflects the impactful work taking place across the college, which is making a difference both in the communities in which our campuses are based and far beyond that, on an international level. I’m immensely proud to see this recognised in the Scottish Parliament and I would like to congratulate all whose efforts have been recognised by these motions.”
