Fire crews at bingo blaze

DOZENS of firefighters were called to a blaze at a disused bingo hall.

The fire broke out at the old Mecca Bingo Hall in Fountainbridge, causing severe smoke damage.

Crews were called out shortly after 10.50pm last night, and the fire was attended by 34 firefighters and four senior officers travelling in ten appliances.

Firefighters said a hose reel and breathing apparatus were used to tackle the fire, which was extinguished at 1.20am.

The building is currently disused and there were no reports of casualties or people trapped inside.
