Teenagers arrested over Dalkeith housebreakings

POLICE have arrested and charged three teenagers - including a 13-year-old boy - following five housebreakings and attempted housebreakings.

Two attempted housebreakings and a housebreaking took place on Park Road, Dalkeith on September 22 and 25.

Two further housebreakings and thefts took place on Abbey Road and Park Road on October 2.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday. A 13-year-old boy has been reported to the Children’s Reporter.

Sergeant Colin Deans said: “Crimes of this nature are completely unacceptable in our community and we will pursue all lines of enquiry to bring perpetrators to justice.

“Many of these crimes are opportunistic and, as always, I would ask the public to remain vigilant and ensure they make their homes and property as secure as possible.”
