Edinburgh bowler Alex Marshall teamed up with Paul Foster today to win a historic 12th gold medal for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.

The duo thrashed Malaysia 20-3 in the men’s pairs – a victory which saw Team Scotland beat the 11 golds won at Melbourne in 2006.

It took the dominant Scots just 90 minutes to claim their medals as they won with three ends to spare.

The success at Kelvingrove means Marshall (Gifford, but formerly of Gorgie Mills) has won a hat-trick of pairs title at the Games, having struck gold with Foster in Melbourne and with George Sneddon at Manchester 2002.
