A Cyclist has been taken to hospital after being hit by a lorry in Edinburgh city centre this afternoon.

The incident involving a Dalkeith pallet vehicle happened at the junction of Morrison Street and Gardners Crescent at around 3.40pm.

Paramedics and the Medic One emergency team treated the man at the scene and the police have closed off Gardner’s Crescent.

It is not clear how serious his injuries are. He has been taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for further treatment.

Morrison Street was closed off to westbound traffic and police were directing traffic away from the scene.

A collision investigation unit arrived at the scene at 4pm.
