AN out-of-control dog was crushed to death by a horse during a popular parade event.

The English bulldog attacked a horse after reportedly jumping out of a ground-floor window.

The incident, which came after the dog had previously attacked another dog, happened at the Penicuik on Parade event in Penicuik, Midlothian, last Saturday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Midlothian are investigating after an Old English Bulldog attacked a horse and a Shi Tzu dog in John Street, Penicuik, at around 2pm on Saturday, May 27.

“Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and officers will liaise with the Midlothian Council Dog Warden.”

A Midlothian Council spokeswoman said: “Our dog warden will be supporting the police during this investigation, if asked to do so.”
