ROBBIE NEILSON is to replace Darren Murray as player development manager and under-20s coach at Hearts. The 33-year-old is leaving his post as player/assistant manager with East Fife to return to the club where he played for more than a decade.

Murray joins Coventry City as under-18 coach next week and talks between Hearts and Neilson have seen him verbally agree to take over. He will work under manager Gary Locke and his assistant Billy Brown, coaching youth players at Riccarton and helping them make the transition. to first-team level. Neilson played for Hearts for 11 years and was a member of the 2006 Scottish Cup-winning side. He captained the club in his final season before joining Leicester City.

Since returning to Scotland, he played at Dundee United for a season and coached at Falkirk before joining East Fife last month.

Neilson, who has studied for several footballing qualifications in recent years, is expected to start at Riccarton next week.
