Hibs’ hopes of signing Dylan McGeouch appear to have hit the buffers, with Alan Stubbs suspecting that Celtic have taken up the option to extend his stay at Parkhead.
The midfielder shone on a season-long loan at Easter Road last term and Stubbs had been hopeful of recruiting him on a longer-term basis.
However, Hibs’ head coach admits it now looks unlikely that the 22-year-old will be back in Edinburgh. “I think Celtic have taken his option up of another year, which I can see why,” said Stubbs. “If there was an opportunity I could bring him here, I would like to do that, but he’s effectively on a one-year contract at Celtic now. They’ve obviously been impressed with his performances for us last season. He was great when he was here and I think everybody knows what I thought of him. He’s a really good player but he’s Celtic’s player.”
