Jake Sinclair bagged a hat-trick as the Hibs Under-20s routed Dundee United under-20s 6-2 yesterday.
Sinclair scored two goals and Lewis Allan slotted home between that. Ola Adeyemo pulled a goal back, but Alex Harris ensured it was 4-1 at the break.
Sinclair completed his hat-trick immediately after the half-time break and, just after the hour mark, Allan netted his second of the game. Jamie Montgomery headed home, but it was too late to spark a revival for the visitors from Tannadice.
Sinclair, a loan signing from Southampton, started the goal glut as he fired home a rebound after Michal Szromnik saved his initial effort in the third minute.
Ten minutes later and Allan pounced on a loose ball from Harris’s corner to double his side’s advantage. In the 22nd minute Sinclair turned and rolled the ball home to make it 3-0. With 28 minutes gone Sean Brennan misjudged Szromnik’s kick-out, and Adeyemo stroked the ball into the unguarded net. But five minutes later Harris found the bottom corner from 20 yards out to make it 4-1 at the break.
Two minutes after the interval Sinclair burst past Harry Souttar and completed his hat-trick as Hibs continued to torment their opponents.
The visitors subsequently packed out their midfield and defence, but it was to no avail as the crisp passing and movement of the hosts ensured the sixth goal arrived as Allan collected Sam Stanton’s pass and rifled home from the edge of the box in the 62nd minute.
Montgomey’s goal on 75 minutes was too little, too late as Joe McBride maintained his unbeaten start as Hibs Under-20s development coach.
