

The 11 best Lothian schools according to Sunday Times Guide, including Linlithgow Academy

With the top 100 best performing Scottish state secondary schools announced in the Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide 2023, we have taken a look at the Lothian schools outwith Edinburgh that have made the list. There are 11 Lothian schools in the top 100 list, which was compiled by the Sunday Times based on exam results for Highers, Advance Highers and National 5 grades.

5. West Calder High School
West Calder High School in West Lothian came 40th in the top 100 state secondary schools in Scotland list. In National 5 results, an impressive 88 per cent of pupils passed five or more of this qualification, ranking the school joint 18th best in the country for National 5 results. 6. St Margaret's Academy
St Margaret's Academy in Livingston was ranked the joint 42nd best performing state secondary school in Scotland. With 59 per cent of pupils at the catholic secondary school passing five or more highers. Photo: Ian Georgeson

7. Broxburn Academy
Broxburn Academy was joint 53rd in the Parent Power Schools Guide 2023 for Scotland's state secondary school. Pupils there performed well in National 5 results, with 83 per cent of them passing five or more subjects in this qualification, ranking the school joint 35th for National 5s. 8. Armadale Academy
Armadale Academy in West Lothian was 61st in the top 100 Scottish state secondary schools list. The school came joint 42nd for higher results, with 56 per cent of its pupils passing five or more highers.
