Condita was handed the accolade from one of the most respected dining out guides on Monday (October 17). The intimate Michelin starred restaurant, which serves a surprise tasting menu to diners, came 15th out of the top 20 restaurants in the whole UK. Co-director and creator Mark Slaney said: “We are all delighted with the news.”

Named top of the Good Food Guide’s 120 most exciting restaurants was L’Enclume in Cumbria, which judges said “has matured but has not aged” and is “such an example to their industry peers”. Ynshir in Ceredigion, Wales, came second and Moor Hall in Lancashire was named third. Of the top 20, Condita was one of only two Scottish restaurants which made the list. The other was Inver, a seafood and game restaurant found on the shores of Loch Fyne in Argyll and Bute.
