13 eerie pictures of legendary Edinburgh club that was once a staple of capital nightlife

These striking images of a former Edinburgh nightclub will bring back memories for many.

Pictures shared with the Evening News show what remains of the legendary venue, most commonly known as Cav, which closed its doors for the final time in January 2023.

The West Tollcross venue was beloved by generations of Capital clubbers with the popular venue having had several names over the years including The Cavendish (Cav), Clouds, Outer Limits, Bermuda Triangle and Lava & Ignite. In 2016, scenes from Danny Boyle’s T2: Trainspotting were filmed inside the venue with Edinburgh locals invited to star as extras wearing their finest 80s clobber.

The venue originally opened as The New Cavendish dance hall in the 1940s, and over the years, it played host to a number of legendary acts – including Pink Floyd, The Jam and The Ramones.

The site is due to be transformed into 145 student flats after plans were approved in 2024.

Urban explorer, SzDan, managed to gain entry to the former nightclub prior to its demolition ‘after many failed attempts of entry over the years.’ He added: “Sad to see it in this state and hope you enjoy the photos of whats left...”
