Edinburgh Airport police called after passenger takes off face mask mid-flight

Officers said no arrests were made in the incident.

Police at Edinburgh Airport were asked to intervene after a passenger on a plane from Paris removed their mask mid-flight yesterday.

The Air France flight left Charles de Gaulle Airport at 3:32pm, arriving in Edinburgh at 4:08pm on Sunday afternoon.

It is understood that one of the passengers on board the plane left his seat during the flight without wearing his face mask.

When airline staff asked him to return to his seat and put his mask back on, the man apologised and sat back down.

Once the plane landed, Police Scotland officers stationed at Edinburgh Airport were asked by the captain to remind the passenger of the guidance around wearing face coverings.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4pm on Sunday, 28 June, 2020 officers were asked to assist airline staff at Edinburgh Airport.

“They attended, advice was given to a passenger and no arrests were made."
