Detective Inspector Jennifer Priestley said the victim’s “strength” helped bring the conviction

A Livingston man, described as exploiting victims for “sexual gratification”, has been convicted for serious child sexual offences, including raping three boys.

The town’s High Court heard that David Smith raped the boys aged 7, 10 and 11 between 2013 and 2020.

The 41-year-old was found guilty of rape alongside other serious sexual offences at the Livingston court on Monday, October 26.

Detective Inspector Jennifer Priestley said: "Smith showed a complete disregard for his victims, exploiting them for his own sexual gratification.

"I want to acknowledge the strength of the victims who provided information to police in this case. Smith’s conviction is down to them. I hope this sentence brings them and their families some comfort.

“We take all reports of sexual abuse seriously, regardless of the passage of time.
