I ventured into the 'Pain Cave' on my quest to get fit and like Arnold Schwarzenegger 'I'll be back' – Hayley Matthews

I said previously about how I was finally joining the gym and had got my bum into gear – with a bang.

It all started when I was in David Lloyd up at Corstorphine, sitting on a sofa with the boys outside one of the studios. The music was pumping, the lights were flashing and I was intrigued. My vision of joining the gym was to use the treadmill/weights and go at my own pace (which to be honest is quite similar to that of a snail).

However, I knew deep down I needed a kick up the bum to get started and into "beast mode"! So I enquired about this mesmerising class that was going on in the background, asking could I book.

It was called "Blaze" and, liking the sound of it, I gave it a go. I have to give Kenny the instructor credit for making me feel really welcome and not scared out of my wits!

He really made me feel at ease as he explained it all, telling me just to ask if I needed help. He mentioned how that day's routine was called "the Pain Cave" and after 45 minutes of pounding a punch bag (yes I had someone in mind, if you know, you know), throwing myself on the floor doing burpees, weights and squats, I was close to spewing my ringer but it was great!

Thanks to Kenny, the class was a real boost to get my fitness going. I may still not be able to bend to put my shoes on (four days after) but as big muscly Arnie says “I'll be back!”
