The Edinburgh Evening News is celebrating its 150th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, we’re naming the city’s most famous faces. We'll be looking at 150 lauded musicians, actors, writers, local heroes and more, who have earned a place in history – not just in Edinburgh, but across the world. We’ve already honoured some big names, from Gavin Hastings to JK Rowling. Going in alphabetical order, here are the most famous faces from Edinburgh starting with R and S.
5. Sam Heughan
Sam Heughan is an award winning actor, producer and author best known for his starring role as Jamie Fraser in Outlander. Heughan has also starred in films such as the spy comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me and the superhero action film Bloodshot. His stage acting bagged him a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award. 6. Scott Hutchison

7. Sir Sean Connery
Sir Sean Connery started out in theatre and TV roles before landing his career-defining role as British secret agent James Bond. He went onto star in seven Bond films. He also appeared on screen in films like Highlander and The Hunt for Red October. His achievements in film earned him an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards and three Golden Globes. Singer Shirley Manson is front woman of alternative rock band Garbage. The band's debut album Garbage sold over 4 million copies and featured chart topping singles including "Only Happy When It Rains" and "Stupid Girl."
