With the New Year of 2024 just days old, we’ve taken a look at what we can look forward to in Edinburgh this year.
There are big outdoor concerts coming to town this summer, including US pop sensation Taylor Swift at Murrayfield Stadium and the series of Edinburgh Castle concerts, including performances by Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers, ‘Modfather’ Paul Weller and ska-kings Madness.
There are of course the city’s annual festivals to enjoy also, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August, as well as the Christmas and Hogmanay events.

5. Edinburgh Castle concerts
Another series of summer concerts at Edinburgh Castle are scheduled to take place at the esplanade, with top acts including ska-kings Madness on July 5, and the 'Modfather' Paul Weller on July 13 due to rock the historic venue in front of thousands of fans. Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers are also due to appear on July 10, with support from Britpop legends Suede. Also set to play the iconic landmark are pop band JLS on July 9, indie rockers The National on July 11 and Celtic rock band Skipinnish on July 12. Photo: Stuart Westwood/Shutterstock

6. Whisky festival
The Edinburgh Whisky Festival comes to Assembly Rooms, George Street on Saturday June 15. You’ll get to sample the best home-grown whiskies from Scotland, as well as all corners of the globe. The Edinburgh Whisky Festival attracts the finest distillers from as far afield as India, Japan, the USA and even England! Photo: Marieke Peche/ Getty

7. Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2024
With us all thinking about how to get rid off the extra body weight we gained over the festive period, this year's ultimate goal, as is this case most years, is to run the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday, May 26. And for those of us not quite able to manage the full 26.2 miles, there are also half marathon, 5k and 10k runs to train for over the coming months. 8. Edinburgh's Christmas
Although it's still a long way away, who doesn't love Christmas in Edinburgh? There are so many things to do in the city centre alone in the run-up to Christmas, including the Christmas Market, fairground rides and Santaland. As it is still 11 months away, the event organisers have obviously not revealed details for this year's festivities in the Capital, but it will be great as always we are sure.
