WestJet is set to launch a new service from Edinburgh to the Canadian city of Calgary.

The new route will begin next summer, with WestJet operating flights from Edinburgh Airport. The airline will run the thrice-weekly service from May 17 to October 9 next year, connecting the two cities for the first time.

Departing Edinburgh on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays, the route will open Scotland’s capital to tourists from Canada. It will further strengthen the ties between Scotland and Calgary, which was named after the hamlet of Calgary on the Isle of Mull.
