Hearts are back in Scottish Premiership action this weekend

Hearts head to Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday afternoon going in search of their first win of the season in the league. They take on an Aberdeen side who are joint-top of the table after winning all six of their fixtures so far in this campaign.

Liam Fox remains in caretaker charge of the Jambos following their decision to sack Steven Naismith. Here is a look at the latest injury news...

Hearts

Hearts are without Gerald Taylor as he faces a long-term spell on the sidelines. Fox said last week: “Potentially (an ACL injury). Don’t quote me on that, we’re just waiting on confirmation. He’ll get all the support he needs. It’s disappointing news. He’s got a real issue with his knee. It’s a blow. We don’t have the exact timescale but it will be a long period of time.”

Anton Forrester has returned in his position over the last two games. The 19-year-old started against both Ross County and Dinamo Minsk.

Calem Nieuwenhof remains in the treatment room for the Jambos. He isn’t expected back until later this month with a hamstring injury.

Aberdeen

Aberdeen attacker Pape Habib Guèye is out for 14 weeks with a quad muscle tear. Their manager Jimmy Thelin has said: “It’s a big blow for Pape given how well he has started the season but he is an optimistic guy and he will have our excellent medical team to guide him through the next few months.

“We trust the squad we have in place, we believe in the players, and we will work to find solutions to ensure we remain effective in that area of the pitch. Everyone at Cormack Park will support Pape to get him back to fitness as soon as possible and we wish him well with his recovery.”

Midfielder Dante Polvara is also still injured. Thelin has said: “He will be back in early November. Let us see. It is difficult to say exactly. He is progressing. That is what I have heard from Kevin Bain that step-by-step, everything is going smoothly and fine. Right now he is in a rhythm. Right now it should be around November. Hopefully, after the next international break.

“He is training the same times as us and then he has extra in the afternoons. That is what you need to do to repair everything. Then we sit with the staff to go through the set plays. He changes into the same clothes as the staff. Then he is on the pitch and is a good coach already. It is good to have him there. It is also good for the players to feel involved in the team. He is doing fine.”

Duk returned to their squad in their last league outing at Dundee. He attempted to leave over the summer and has since apologised.
