Hearts and Hibs referee appointments ahead of Aberdeen and Motherwell clashes

Hearts face an away trip to Aberdeen as they hunt for their first league win. They are in the hunt for a new manager to replace Steven Naismith as Liam Fox remains in caretaker charge.
The Jambos have endured a tough first couple of months of the new season and find themselves bottom of the table. They have only one point on the board so far.

Here is a look at the referee appointments for the weekend...
Hearts
Sunday 6th October 2024, Pittodrie Stadium, 3.00pm kick-off
Referee: John Beaton
Assistant Referee 1: Graeme Stewart
Assistant Referee 2: Colin Drummond
VAR: Don Robertson
Assistant VAR: Andrew McWilliam
Beaton has overseen 10 games so far this season in all competitions. The 42-year-old was the man in the middle for Hearts’ away clash against Motherwell in August as they lost 3-1, as well as Celtic vs Rangers in early September.
Fox wants to see a reaction from his players and has recently said: “There were large amounts of the performance on Saturday that pleased us as a staff. There were wee moments in the game that we can build on, which is important. It’s always better taking something from the game than nothing. It’s also important to not just talk about taking next steps, but to go out and do that.”

Hibs
Saturday 5th October, Easter Road, 3.00pm kick-off
Referee: Matthew MacDermid
Assistant Referee 1: Daniel McFarlane
Assistant Referee 2: Alastair Mather
VAR: Chris Graham
Assistant VAR: Graham McNeillie
MacDermid, 31, has had 11 games in this campaign and has given out 41 yellow cards and two red cards. He last refereed Hibs on 4th August as they lost 3-0 to St Mirren.
Gray felt his team deserved a draw at least against Rangers in their last game. He said: “I have mixed emotions, and I said that to the players. I will never accept losing games of football, so I didn’t want them to be confused with my tone after the game, but there were large elements of the game I was proud of.
“We always knew it would be a tough start with Rangers coming back here after a positive result in Europe, 50,000 supporters here for their first league game back, and we prepared the players for that. I thought we dealt with the atmosphere well and reduced them to very little chances. We need to be a wee bit more clinical; I think we had 18 shots. We deserved at least a point, but I honestly believe if we got that goal, we’d have gone on to win the game.”
