Hearts have made an official move to bring Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes to Tynecastle as they step up the search for Neil Critchley’s successor.
The 53-year old has delivered success with St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock throughout his time as a head coach in Scottish football and a big part of that has been his signings. It’s fair to say the former Rangers midfielder has a preference for UK based players which brings up the question of what that means for the current oversees players at Tynecastle and the club’s current recruitment process involving Jamestown Analytics.
Here are the 116 signings that McInnes made for Aberdeen and Kilmarnock:

93. Deji Sotona
The Irishman spent time in Manchester United's academy before landing at Nice in France who loaned him to Killie where he managed just two first team appearances. He wen't on to sign for Burnley but is now at English non-league side Eastleigh. | SNS Group

94. Ben Chrisene
The promising left back was snapped up from Exeter City by Aston Villa and then loaned to Killie but managed just 13 appearances during his season long loan. He now plays for Norwich City. | SNS Group

95. Christian Doidge
The Welsh striker had fallen out of favour at Hibs and was allowed to join Killie on loan where he managed three league goals. The following season he left the Easter Road side permanently to join Forrest Green Rovers. | SNS Group

96. Kyle Vassell
There are EFL journeymen and then there's Vassell who had played for 18 different English clubs plus San Diego Loyal in the USA before landing at Killie in 2023. Safe to say this one was a good pick up though with the veteran striker currently the club captain and a fan favourite at Rugby Park. | SNS Group
