Hearts have made an official move to bring Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes to Tynecastle as they step up the search for Neil Critchley’s successor.
The 53-year old has delivered success with St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock throughout his time as a head coach in Scottish football and a big part of that has been his signings. It’s fair to say the former Rangers midfielder has a preference for UK based players which brings up the question of what that means for the current oversees players at Tynecastle and the club’s current recruitment process involving Jamestown Analytics.
Here are the 116 signings that McInnes made for Aberdeen and Kilmarnock:

109. Greg Stewart
Guess who's back, back again? McInnes brought Stewart back to Scottish football for a brief loan spell from India and, once again, couldn't get the best out of the vastly experience forward | SNS Group

110. Mark Birighitti
Brought in on loan from Dundee United for the second half of the 2023/24 seasons but didn't make a single league appearance. | SNS Group

111. James Balagizi
The Liverpool midfielder arrived for a short loan after stints at Crawley Town and Wigan Athletic but managed just a handful of appearances. | SNS Group

112. Kevin Van Veen
Tore up the Premiership with Motherwell and earned a move to FC Gronigen but was soon made available and Killie won the race to land him on loan. It didn't work out at all though and he was a shadow of the player who had bagged goals for the Steelmen. | SNS Group
