Former Hibs star returns to Premiership less than 12 months after Easter Road exit as he makes rival move

The star was recently at Hibs and is now back in Scotland.

Dylan Levitt insists he’s ready to become a Motherwell success story after returning to Scottish football less than a year after leaving Hibs.

The former Manchester United prospect has been snapped up by the Steelmen from Leyton Orient for an undisclosed fee and he joins their squad ahead of a Premiership fixture against another of his former sides, Dundee United, on Wednesday night. Levitt joined the League One side from Hibs in January’s transfer window but has featured just 10 times.

A Welsh international, the 25-year-old moved to Easter Road in 2023 after a standout stint at Tannadice, going on to feature 82 times for the Hibees. He now hopes to make an impact at Alfred Johansson’s Motherwell who play a ball-orientated style of play under the Swedish manager.

Who have Motherwell signed from Leyton Orient?

Levitt said: “It’s a great feeling to be back in Scotland. I feel like I should be able to slot in here quickly and easily. From the games I’ve watched this season, this is the perfect system for me to play in.

“There are some really good players in the building, and now it’s my job to get to work and try to push into the team. I’m well accustomed to Scottish football and know what it takes to be successful here. I’m looking forward to what comes next.

Johansson added: “Dylan will be a player well-known to our support. We have recruited from leagues across the globe this summer, but bringing someone in who has ample experience in this division is also really important. Dylan has played almost 100 games in the Scottish Premiership, so he knows exactly what’s needed.

Why have Motherwell signed Dylan Levitt?

“His ability on the ball and characteristics were exactly what we wanted, and we feel he bolsters our options in the middle of the pitch. We have some really strong players in this position who will all be pushing each other on throughout the season. I’m excited to see Dylan in our system and feel our summer recruitment has put the squad in a really healthy position.”

Orient state in a parting message to Levitt: “Leyton Orient can confirm that midfielder Dylan Levitt has joined Scottish Premiership club Motherwell. Levitt joined the O’s in January 2026 and made 10 appearances for the club, scoring once. Levitt’s registration with Motherwell is subject to international clearance and approval from the relevant footballing authorities. Everyone at Leyton Orient wishes Dylan the best of luck in his future career.”
