The draw for UEFA’s new club competition was made in Nyon this afternoon.
The Easter Road side knew prior to the draw that they could face one of nine teams – KF Shkupi / KF Llapi; Vålerenga; Stjarnan / Bohemians; Mons Calpe / Santa Coloma or Bala Town / Larne – thus avoiding any arduous trips to the likes of Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan.
The two-legged tie will be played on July 22 and 29 with Hibs at home first but the Capital club will already know their potential opponents in the third qualifying round before the second qualifying round matches, with the 3QR draw taking place on July 19.
Hibs’ last involvement in Europe came in the 2017/18 Europa League when they eliminated NSI Runavik of the Faroe Islands and Greek side Asteras Tripolis before being knocked out by Molde in the third qualifying round.
