The interior design of Robertson Homes’ Murray Garden Room show home at the Almondell development off Calderwood Road has been described as ‘subtle, understated elegance’. The property will now go forward to compete for the Global Award against the best interiors from across Europe, Africa and America, after also winning the prestigious UK Five Star Award - the highest level of recognition presented within a specific category and country.

Almondell is a development of 66 luxury three, four, five and six-bedroom homes surrounded by Almondell and Calderwood Country Park and interior designers, Abode, were tasked to create a calming and quietly aspirational mood for the show home.

Led by principal designer Grace O’Brien, Abode used many bold and oversize statement pieces to showcase the exceptional versatility of a property offering nearly 2,500sq.ft of living space.

The Ashley Ann kitchen was inspired by David Beckham’s Cotswold mansion, with the giant weathered oak table creating a welcoming farmhouse feel.

The second reception room to the ground floor has been transformed into a home study, to demonstrate how effective home working can be in this property. Such is the space, it would be ideal for professional consultants and large enough to comfortably host meetings.

In the lounge, a replica stone wall surrounds the fireplace and continues in the family dining space, creating rustic charm. Enhancing the theme of bringing the outside in, the garden room demonstrates how weekend decadence might look, relaxing over coffee and the newspapers whilst enjoying watching the changing seasons.

Upstairs, Abode used American Restoration Hardware influences with a modern take on a stylish four poster bed in the primary bedroom.

Also to the first floor is an inventive karaoke room. Ceiling to floor wrap-around curtains create a soundproofed intimate atmosphere and ceiling mounted LED lights produce a stunning colourful backdrop to a room fitted with a screen, microphones and karaoke machine.

Jon Pilling, founder and managing director at Abode, said: “Designing a Robertson Homes show home is always made easier as the properties are well designed and well proportioned with lots of interesting features.

“The Murray Garden Room is essentially ‘anti-show home’, with natural and calming woods and greenery and textured cottons, fabrics and wools proving a show home doesn’t need to be silky, shiny and extravagant.

“Our task was to enhance the spaciousness and maximise the abundant natural light of this stunning property and we’re pleased the judges were impressed by the welcoming and homely feel we achieved.”

Sharon Spinelli, sales and marketing director at Robertson Homes, said: “With a long track-record of award-winning Robertson Homes show homes, Abode continues to raise the bar for interior design and we are thrilled that the Murray Garden Room has been recognised on the international stage.

“I would encourage anyone looking for interior design inspiration to visit Almondell and to see for themselves what makes this the best residential interior in Scotland.”

The International Property Awards were held at The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London and celebrate the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry.
