Independent Edinburgh wall art brand reaches £1m revenue by tackling common interior design dilemma

An Edinburgh based made-to-order wall art brand has gained hundreds of 5-star reviews after vowing to solve a major problem in the home and interiors space: how to fill awkward empty blank spaces.

The independent brand Atelier Printworks is run by Scottish founders, John Duncan and Kathryn Bunker, who started the brand after renovating their own home, when they struggled to find art for the long hallway wall, the space above the bed and the tall stretch beside the stairs. So, in April 2025, they created a wall art company with narrow spaces in mind.

Now, the Edinburgh brand has passed £1 million in revenue in its first full trading year and has over 300 5-star reviews, with customers praising them for solving a huge problem within home styling.

Their pieces aim to fill all those tight spaces that won’t accommodate your average picture frame, with prints that are perfect for occupying those awkward gaps and ideal for smaller properties that have less wall space to work with. Every piece is also printed to order, ensuring minimal waste and no mass production.

Some of the brand’s bestsellers include the Dark Green and Copper Abstract Canvas, which one customer described as “perfect for the space in my hallway”, while another praised it as a “wonderful” and “versatile piece”.

What began as a personal frustration with awkward spaces in a home has now become a great example of independent Scottish businesses thriving. Atelier Printworks seems to be going from strength to strength, with 2027 shaping up to be another fantastic year for the brand and their loyal customers.
