With the year quickly coming to an end, we’ve taken a look at the top 10 music events taking place in Edinburgh as locals and visitors come together to celebrate Hogmanay.
5. Hear the Scottish Albums of the Year
No plans on New Year’s Day yet? Head along to First Footin’ - a free programme of live music in venues across the city for a special collaboration with The Scottish Album of the Year Awards to hear some of this year’s Shortlist and past winners. Glasgow rapper Bemz is sure to be an unmissable set, plus Becky Sikasa and Cloth (pictured) as well as previous winner Fergus McCreadie for a special set in Greyfriars Kirk. 6. Fun for all the family
There’s something for all the family at this year’s Hogmanay – get the kids together and head along to Bairns New Year Revels at a slightly earlier child-friendly time of 2pm on the 31st. Determined not to leave younger partygoers out of the celebrations, Bairns New Year Revels includes festival favourites Massaoke for mass singalongs of kids' favourite party tunes, live music and a kid-friendly ceilidh.

7. Ready for the (dance) floor with Hot Chip
Joining headliners Pulp for this year’s Concert in the Gardens are none other than Hot Chip with a special guest DJ slot, bringing all the biggest party bangers to see out 2023 in style in West Princes Street Gardens. Known for Over and Over, Ready for the Floor and Need You Now the synthpop maestros will take to the West Princes Street Gardens stage to get the crowd ready for an epic performance from Pulp and the highly-anticipated Midnight Moment.

8. Silent Disco Time
Silent Discos are back this Hogmanay with an even bigger and better edition at Edinburgh’s famous Street Party. Silent Adventures will bring their beats to the streets as 4000 people take part in a silent disco throughout the street party – choosing from three different genres of music before tuning into the famous firework display and then bopping the night away straight into 2024.
