With the year quickly coming to an end, we’ve taken a look at the top 10 music events taking place in Edinburgh as locals and visitors come together to celebrate Hogmanay.
With Sheffield Britpop band Pulp of course headlining the Hogmanay concert in the gardens to ring in the bells at New Year, there will be so much more great live music in the Capital at the turn of the year.

9. A Night Afore Hoolie
Get the Hogmanay celebrations started early on December 30 by heading along to the Night Afore Hoolie at Assembly Rooms with an uplifting performance from Blue Rose Code (pictured) and special guests. A hometown show for Edinburgh born singer-songwriter Ross Wilson, the gig will feature his big Caley Soul Band and special guests including Leith’s very own Dean Owens, Jill Jackson and Sulidae, playing the very best Scottish folk, soul and Americana. 10. Blow the cobwebs away on New Year’s Day
If all of the partying at Hogmanay hasn’t tired you out then make sure to head along to a very special set at First Footin’ on New Year’s Day for an up-close, immersive audience with Lau (pictured) and Kathryn Joseph to blow away the cobwebs. Midlothian’s pioneering folk trio Lau will join forces with Kathryn Joseph for a stunning set in St Giles’ Cathedral making the first gig of 2024 one to remember.
