The Fast & Furious 9 cast and crew descended on the Capital for 19 days in September 2019, capturing footage in 11 different city centre locations.

In the newly-released clip, the madcap chase begins on Calton Street - near the archway made famous in the opening scene of Trainspotting - as John Cena’s character, Jakob, is pursued by Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew.

An Edinburgh local can be heard shouting “That’s ma car pal!” as Jakob hurls him from the driver’s seat of a red Toyota and races off in it along Leith Street.

Hot on Jakob’s heels, Toretto clambers into the cabin of a yellow lorry - driven by Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), with Roman (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej (Ludacris) in tow.

The chase heads onto Westport - passing the Burke and Hare strip club - before Jakob’s Toyota darts left onto East Fountainbridge.

The yellow lorry ploughs straight ahead onto Bread Street, running alongside their target’s car - with only a row of buildings separating them.

Then, a blockbuster special-effects spectacle - the kind that has become synonymous with the Fast and Furious franchise - kicks in.

Driving at break-neck speed, Ramsey reaches down and turns a dial - triggering what appears to be a powerful electro-magnet in the yellow lorry’s cargo area.

Jakob’s car is suddenly flipped over - wrenched through the glass front of a shop that scatters debris across the road - landing in the back of the lorry.

It is thought that Edinburgh locations including Waterloo Place, George Street, Cockburn Street, Victoria Street, the Royal Mile, Melville Street and the Museum of Scotland will also feature in the film.

Earlier this year, Vin Diesel made an impassioned plea for film buffs to return to cinemas for the latest installment.

The gravel-voiced actor told fans in April: “After staying apart for so long, it’s time to come back together.

“To laugh, to cheer, we’re ready to make you believe again. Because nobody does a comeback like the movies.”

F9: The Fast Saga is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on June 24.
